Welcome to the Doctor Who Archive

Welcome to the Doctor Who Archive
BBC Archives - Behind the scenes on The Moonbase (1967)

This project has quietly existed in the background for the past decade, and only recently have I begun to share it more widely. So, hello and welcome.

The Doctor Who Archive is a personal passion project I began with one goal in mind: to preserve every piece of Doctor Who-related media, both physical and digital, so that nothing more is lost to time.

We all know Doctor Who's long-standing history of missing television episodes, but what’s often overlooked are the non-televised stories. These include the 1960s peep-a-show projector sets, obscure audio adventures, and short-run comics from the 1990s. Tim Quinn’s comics, for example, are on the verge of becoming lost media. Physical copies survive in only a few private collections, often reselling for hundreds of pounds.

This project is about safeguarding those lesser-known stories, preserving them for future fans and researchers. It’s important to note that we are not affiliated with the BBC or any official Doctor Who entities. We’re simply fans doing our best to save what we can.

Along the way, a side mission emerged. As I collected material, I began reading, listening, and watching each piece in chronological order. I discovered just how enjoyable it is to see everything fit together within the larger universe of Doctor Who.

So, this site will also include:

  • A Reviews tab, where I and a few contributors share thoughts on various stories.
  • An Essays section with deeper dives into recurring themes and overlooked gems.
  • A Pilgrimage Timeline, a guide to every Doctor Who story in chronological order from the Doctor’s point of view.
  • And of course, the Archive itself, where we highlight what’s been preserved, what we’re seeking, and what we believe is most at risk.

If this sounds like your kind of thing, stick around. You can follow our RSS feed or subscribe to our Substack for updates.

If you have any questions, suggestions, or material you think we should know about, please reach out through the Contact tab.

Thanks for being here, and enjoy exploring the Archive.
